Hawai'i Host Committee for the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Hosted by Chaminade
The nation's premier early-season college basketball tournament has proudly introduced the Hawai'i Host Committee for the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Hosted by Chaminade. 2007 marked the inaugural year of the host program, in which local Hawaiian businesses, including the Honolulu Advertiser, Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA), and GEICO will underwrite programs to promote the tournament, support Chaminade University activities and provide opportunities to give back to the Maui community.
"We're thrilled to partner with such a high-profile tournament and to advance its involvement with and contributions to the islands," said Tim Dayton, general manager of GEICO Hawaii.
Central to a growing list of initiatives and events organized by the Hawai'i Host Committee is a program that provides Chaminade student-athletes with internship opportunities at the Honolulu Advertiser, HMSA and GEICO.
"These internships will provide invaluable, hands-on business experience and networking opportunities for Chaminade students," said Bob Heim, CEO of HMSA. "We're excited to be a part of the Host Committee in its debut year. This program is destined to grow, just as the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational has."
