Congratulations to 1996 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational champion and four-time Maui participant, KANSAS, on winning the 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament!
Overall, EA SPORTS Maui Invitational participants have now won an impressive 54 of 70 NCAA championships, 54 of 70 national runner-up spots and have comprised 210 of 280 Final Four teams.
The 2008 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational will mark the Tournament's 25th year of launching the college basketball season when this year's NCAA Tournament participants North Carolina, Texas, Notre Dame, Indiana, Oregon and Saint Joseph's, along with Alabama and host Chaminade, vie for the coveted early-season crown Nov. 24-26 at Maui's Lahaina Civic Center.

Tyler Hansbrough, North Carolina's 6-9 junior All-American from Poplar Bluff, Mo., has been chosen winner of the Oscar Robertson Trophy by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association as the nation's top college basketball player for the 2007-08 season. Click here to read more...

The Oscar Robertson Trophy is awarded to the USBWA's Player of the Year. It is the nation's oldest award and the only one named after a former player. The legendary Oscar Robertson was the USBWA's first player of the year in 1959.

Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award
In recognition of the Big Ten's leadership in fully integrating athletics into the academic mission of its member institutions, the Indianapolis Big Ten Community Partnership has initiated the Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award.
The Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award is named for the former Big Ten Conference commissioner who served from 1971-89. While leading the Big Ten, Duke spent much of his time working to improve academic standards and graduation rates for student-athletes.

The Greatest Upset Never Seen
In the recent Dec. 31 issue of Sports Illustrated, Alexander Wolff takes an in-depth look at the dramatic college basketball game that spawned today's EA SPORTS Maui Invitational. In the piece titled, "The Greatest Upset Never Seen," Wolff describes Chaminade's miraculous upset of then top-ranked Virginia on Dec. 23, 1982, which "led to the creation of what has become the Maui Invitational, the sport's most prestigious in-season tournament."

North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough - The Associated Press national player of the year last season - will return for his senior year, the school said Friday. Hansbrough, a six-foot-nine forward, averaged 22.6 points and 10.2 rebounds. He led the Tar Heels (36-3) to the winningest season in school history and the Final Four while sweeping the major national player of the year awards.
