San Diego State 92, BYU 87 (2OT)In a game that needed double-overtime to decide a winner, the San Diego State Aztecs defeated the BYU Cougars 92-87. It was only the third multiple overtime game in Tournament history, the last coming in 2005 when Adam Morrison led Gonzaga over Michigan State in a triple-overtime semi-final.
Aqeel Quinn led San Diego State in the win, scoring 22 points and pulling in five rebounds. Three other Aztecs scored in the double figures, including Winston Shepard (18), Trey Kell (14) and J.J O'Brien (13). Also with the win, Aztec head coach Steve Fisher achieved 500 wins for his career. San Diego State will play Pittsburgh in the semi-finals Tuesday.
For the Cougars, Tyler Haws scored a game-high 26 points, while Kyle Collinsworth added 21 points and recorded team-highs in rebounds (7) and assists (6). BYU will next play Chaminade on Tuesday.
